FEBRUARY 2008
Akzia newspaper was voted World's Best-Designed Newspaper of 2007 (read more).

The results of the competition run by the Society for News Design (SND) were published on February, 19. The total of 14,818 works from 373 newspapers were submitted for the competition from all over the world. This year four newspapers were voted World's Best-Designed Newspapers. Apart from Akzia, they were: Expresso, Portugal, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, Germany, and the Guardian, UK. The competition sponsored by the Society for News Design is the most important professional contest of newspaper designer in the world. To get the World's Best Award is a great honour for any edition.

The jury has highly appraised the newspaper’s ingenious design.“Akzia struck us as an atypical diamond in the rough that comes together through clever ideas and sheer force of passion. It’s compact, frenetic and refreshing”, — says the jury in the comments posted on the Society for News Design web-site.

OCTOBER 2007
Two awards at the all-Russian competition “The 21st Century Challenge” for young journalists (under 25) who cover important social issues, organized by the Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications. The first place in the nomination “Economy”in the federal tour (for the publication by Sergey Kharinov and Alexandr Buryak “When the Petrol Gauge Goes Off-Scale”) and the third place in the Central Federal District tour (for the same publication).

JULY 2007
Four awards at the all-Russian festival “Newspaper Design – 2006”. Among the prizes: Bronze Award in the nomination “The Best Newspaper Design”; Bronze Award in the nomination “Front Page Design”; Silver Award in the nomination “Use of Documentary Photographs” (for the report from Georgia by the photographer Yulia Vyshnevetskaya); Award of Excellence in the nomination “Infographics” (for the infographics “Moscow that Doesn’t Exist”).  

FEBRUARY 2007
Winner of the annual prize of the RF Journalists Union. The award received in the nomination “Publication against Xenophobia” for the special issue of Akzia on Georgia (November 2006).  

FEBRUARY 2007
Three Awards of Excellence at the world competition, sponsored by the Socienty for News Design. The Akzia has got more awards in the World Newspaper Design Competition than any other Russian newspaper for the whole history of the competition. The awards were received for the design of the cover of the October issue of the newspaper (the theme of the issue – Popular Science, the issue was dedicated to young researchers and the future of science in Russia), for the cover of the Entertainment supplement (theme – Counterculture) and for a page in the Entertainment New Year edition (a New Year James Bond theme party).

 

MAY 2006
Four awards at the open all-Russian competition “Newspaper Design – 2005). The prizes won included: Bronze Award in the nomination “The Best Newspaper Design” (the third award after two Gold Awards – Izvestia and Parma Novosti newspapers); Bronze Award in the nomination “The Best Front Page” (the first award since there were no winners of the Gold and Silver Awards); the Jury Special Award “For the Best Use of Non-Documentary Illustrations” for the work of Alla Gorobets “The Japanese Japan” (cover of the Entertainment supplement); the Jury Special Award in the nomination “The Best Use of Infographics” for the work “250th Anniversary of the Lomonosov Moscow State University”.

MARCH 2006
The Award of Excellence at the World Newspaper Design Competition annually run by the Society for News Design. Before this prize only twice had Russian (as well as other CIS countries) newspapers won prizes at this competition in its whole history. The award was received for the 2005 cover of the Entertainment supplement dedicated to Japan (“The Japanese Japan”) published in ¹11 (48), November 2005.

MAY 2005
Two awards at the all-Russian competition “Newspaper Design - 2004”: the Award of Excellence in the nomination “The Best Newapaper Design” and the Award of Excellence in the nomination “The Best Use of Non-Documentary Illustrations”.

FEBRUARY 2005
Three awards at the All-Russian Contest “Today’s Russia Viewed by the Young”, organized by Federation Council of the RF Federal Assembly and the MediaUnion. Diploma to the Akzia newspaper team in the nomination “Cultural Pyramid”; Diploma to Igor Veselov for the publication “Rat Race” (in defense of the Cinema Museum); Diploma to Yevgeni Morozov for the publication “Do It Yourself”.

JUNE 2004
The Award of Excellence at the all-Russian competition “Newspaper Design – 2003” in the nomination “The Use of Non-Documentary Illustrations” for the cover of Entertainment (Akzia, ¹ 9 (27) December 2003), the image by Alexandra Bobkova, Akzia’s artist.

DECEMBER 2003

The first place in the competition “Social Media Challenge of the 21st Century” in the Central Federal District was won by Elizaveta Birger for the material “American Pie? Didn’t order It” published in Akzia on May 3, 2003. The competition was run by RF Ministry of TV and Radio Broadcasting and Mass Communication Media and the International Press-Club.

NOVEMBER 2003
Winner of the first competition of the youth and student press in Moscow in the nomination “For the Best Newspaper”. The competition was organized by the Youth and Student Press Guild at the MediaUnion.
